Tasting Notes

Appearance Deep, opaque purple-black core with violet edges. Full-bodied with pronounced viscosity and dark, inky color suggesting concentrated fruit.
Nose Complex aromatics of blackcurrant, black cherry, and blackberry preserves. Secondary notes of cedar, graphite, and dark chocolate. Hints of tobacco leaf, dried herbs, violet, and espresso with subtle oak spice and vanilla.
Palate Full-bodied and powerful with firm, well-structured tannins. Concentrated flavors of cassis, blackberry, and dark plum are complemented by notes of leather, cedar box, and dark chocolate. Mid-palate reveals layers of coffee, mocha, and sweet oak with mineral undertones. Excellent balance between fruit concentration and structure.
Finish Long and persistent with evolving complexity. Waves of dark fruit, spice, and oak linger alongside firm but integrated tannins. The mountain fruit character shines through with remarkable depth and aging potential. A classic Alexander Valley Cabernet built for the cellar.

Food Pairing

This powerful Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with:

Red Meats Grilled ribeye, filet mignon, braised short ribs, or rack of lamb with herb crust
Rich & Savory Beef Wellington, venison medallions, wild game stew, or bone marrow with parsley salad
Aged Cheese Aged cheddar, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Manchego, or blue cheese with walnuts

Vintage Notes

The 2021 vintage in Alexander Valley delivered ideal conditions for mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. Moderate temperatures through the growing season allowed for gradual ripening and excellent tannin development. The Jumble Down Mountain Block, at 1,450 feet elevation, benefited from cool mountain breezes and well-drained volcanic soils. Clones 337 and 4 produced small, concentrated berries with thick skins, resulting in exceptional color, tannin structure, and aging potential.
