Tasting Notes

Appearance Inky, impenetrable purple-black with garnet reflections. Massive body with thick, syrupy legs coating the glass, indicating exceptional concentration.
Nose Powerful aromatics of ripe blackberry, cassis liqueur, and black cherry compote. Intense notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and charred oak. Layers of vanilla bean, tobacco, black pepper, and dried figs with hints of leather and cigar box.
Palate Massively structured with bold, muscular tannins and incredible concentration. Opulent flavors of blackberry jam, cassis, and dark plum dominate. Mid-palate explodes with dark chocolate, espresso, charred oak, and sweet spices. The warm vintage produces a wine of tremendous power and intensity while maintaining balance.
Finish Extraordinarily long with wave after wave of dark fruit, oak, and spice. Firm tannins suggest decades of aging potential. This is a monumental Cabernet that showcases the best of mountain fruit in a warm vintage. Built for serious cellaring.

Food Pairing

This powerful Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with:

Red Meats Grilled ribeye, filet mignon, braised short ribs, or rack of lamb with herb crust
Rich & Savory Beef Wellington, venison medallions, wild game stew, or bone marrow with parsley salad
Aged Cheese Aged cheddar, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Manchego, or blue cheese with walnuts

Vintage Notes

2022 was an exceptional warm vintage in Alexander Valley that produced intensely concentrated mountain Cabernet. Consistent heat through the growing season created small berries with thick skins and exceptional phenolic ripeness. The drought-resistant 110R rootstock performed admirably despite limited water. Early harvest captured peak ripeness while preserving some acidity. This vintage represents the power and intensity possible from high-elevation Alexander Valley sites in warm years.

Drinking Window

Peak: 2030-2042
Requires patience - best cellared for at least 5-7 years, with potential to age gracefully through 2050.
